Halloween Changed Horror FOREVER

🖤 AIAIAI!!! Let’s be REAL—Halloween (1978) set the RULES for the slasher genre!!! Michael Myers and John Carpenter basically INVENTED the modern slasher, and if you love horror, you know this movie laid the FOUNDATION!!! Here’s how:

Michael Myers stands in front of a fiery backdrop, wielding a knife, from one of the iconic moments of the Halloween franchise. The intensity of his mask and the flames emphasize his unstoppable nature.

Film Independent points out that Halloween didn’t need over-the-top gore to terrify audiences. The POV shots and slow-building suspense made every kill feel SOOOO intimate!!! You’re literally watching through Michael’s eyes as he stalks his victims...CHILLS!!! No wonder it became the blueprint!!!

Parade reminds us why Michael Myers is SO SCARY!!! Unlike other horror villains, Michael has NO motive. NO emotions. NOTHING!!! That blank mask is the face of PURE evil, and we project our worst fears onto it. I don’t care how many times I watch it—he STILL freaks me out!!!

CBR gives ALL the love to Laurie Strode, aka the ORIGINAL final girl!!! Laurie showed us that women in horror could be strong, smart, and SAVAGE!!! She gave us a new kind of horror heroine who refuses to be the victim. How many final girls came after Laurie??? SHE. PAVED. THE. WAY. 💪

A classic Halloween movie poster with a menacing hand holding a glowing jack-o-lantern-knife hybrid, with the text "Tonight He Comes Home... HALLOWEEN," set against a dark background.

💬 What’s your favorite Michael Myers moment??? For me, it’s the iconic scene where he SLOWLY sits up behind Laurie like… HOW??? WHO DOES THAT??? Tell me your favs below!!!
