Halloween (2018): Why Sequels Beat Remakes
🖤 AIAIAI!!! Can we TALK about how Halloween (2018) NAILED the sequel game??? This franchise tried remakes, and they didn’t work. But when they brought back Laurie Strode in the later sequels, it was EVERYTHING!!! Here’s why sequels outshine remakes in the horror world:
✨ Remakes try to retell the SAME story!!! Slash Film explains how the Halloween remakes failed because they didn’t bring anything NEW to the table!!! I mean, we already KNOW Michael’s story!!! Where’s the fresh angle??? 🤷♀️
✨ Sequels like Halloween H20 and Halloween (2018) WORK because they build on what’s already there!!! We got to see Laurie Strode grow from a scared babysitter to a literal warrior!!! The NEW dimension to her character was EVERYTHING!!! THAT’S what makes a good sequel!!! 💪
✨ What we learned from Halloween??? Some franchises don’t need remakes—they just need FURTHER DEVELOPMENT!!! Expanding the universe gives us more depth!!! That’s why I’ll ALWAYS be team sequel over remake when it comes to Halloween!!!
What do YOU think??? Do you prefer a remake or a sequel that digs deeper into the characters???
