Friday the 13th: Breakdown 01/02 – Slasher Fans, Unite!!!
🖤 AIAIAI!!! Let’s get into one of horror’s most iconic franchises!!!
✨ Friday the 13th (1980) – THE ONE THAT STARTED IT ALL!!! Did you know Sean Cunningham originally wanted to call the movie “A Long Night at Camp Blood”?! But after seeing how “Friday the 13th” sounded more sinister, they changed it—and the rest is history. The low budget of $550K turned into $60M worldwide!!! That twist with Mrs. Voorhees was EVERYTHING!!! 😱
✨ Part II (1981) – Jason FINALLY makes his entrance as the killer (even with that sack over his head!). This is when the franchise truly takes off. It set the tone for the "killer who just won't die" trope, which would become a hallmark in slasher films.
✨ Part III (1982) – Jason puts on that HOCKEY MASK for the first time!!! His new look sealed his place as a horror icon. Not to mention, this was the first film in 3D, adding a whole new level of gruesome fun!!! 🎭
✨ The Final Chapter (1984) – Spoiler alert: Not REALLY the final chapter. 😂 But this movie marked a turning point, with the creative kills ramping up and Jason becoming the franchise’s true STAR!!! The film had some of the most brutal death scenes, solidifying the franchise’s violent reputation. 🩸
✨ A New Beginning (1985) – Okay, let’s TALK about the switch-up. They tried giving us a copycat killer, and fans were NOT having it!!! While it didn’t land for everyone, it’s interesting to see how they played with new directions—though nothing beats the real Jason!!! 💀
🎃 Stay tuned for Part 2 because Jason keeps coming back STRONGER, SCARIER, and DEADLIER!!! Drop your fave movie below!!! My top picks are Part III, Part VIII & Jason X!!!
